The goal of Family Support Services is to remove the risk of harm from a child in the home as opposed to removing the child from home. SSFS believes that children are best within families, and the parent support program aims to support families in developing the skills needed to function in a healthy manner. The Family Support Services Program is a solution-focused program with the aim of assisting parents/caregivers with developing the skills necessary to stabilize the family through learning how to establish a daily routine, budgetary skills, community resource utilization, appointment maintenance, self & family advocacy, appropriate parenting, healthy discipline, coping skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and overall self-sufficiency skills. This service is widely customizable and includes family participation in identifying new behaviors to learn regarding daily functioning and decision making. Healthy parents are needed to support their healthy children.
